Clean-slate Vista with no “phone home”…

If you have recently purchased a new computer, be it Compaq, Dell, HP, etc., you may feel you have no options for a clean install of Vista, since it only came with rescue partition or disc. Using that option will only set it back to the new state with all the bloatware re-installed, and a clean install requires re-entering the key and re-activation of Vista… or does it? Actually you can clean install Vista without calling “home”, that’s right, no more “big brother” aspect of activation every time you reinstall. You will need a couple of items prior to accomplishing this task, a USB Flash Drive (small inexpensive 1GB will do) and a Vista Anytime Upgrade CD (can be made by downloading the files). The entire procedure for notebooks or desktop computers is found at http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=120228 and is not hard to follow. I have used the procedures for creating a bootable Vista CD from an ISO file and have clean-slated both my grandson’s and my computers without problems. Placing a clean copy of Vista on your computer removes pre-installed programs, so be sure you have software installation discs available. This procedure is not for everyone, but it sure made a difference in performance and hard drive space regained. Check it out…
